Wind Players Wanted

Maidstone Winds, Maidstone's premier adult wind band, is seeking woodwind, brass and percussion players of approximate grade 8 standard.

The band rehearses on alternate Tuesday evenings during term time at Invicta Grammar School, Maidstone, and plays five concerts a year, including an annual Concert of Remembrance in aid of the Royal British Legion.

It is a friendly group conducted by Jeremy Cooper, plays a challenging wind band repertoire, and has commissioned several new pieces.

Dynamic New Ensemble Seeks Founder Members

Seeking woodwind and brass musicians of any age and standard to take part in practice sessions with a a concert band, also known as a wind band and eventually public performances.  Practices would be held at a church hall close to junction 6 of the M20 in Maidstone.  This is a non-profit venture, with the music director/conductor (and prospective band members) giving his time for free. The MD is an award winning Maidstone-based saxophonist and the first piece to be learned is a concert band arrangement of a famous television theme by his acquaintance Lalo Schifrin. The mission is to play this piece and it is definitely not impossible (which gives more than a clue as to its title!).  The only outlay by both the MD himself and the members would be towards the cost of hire of the hall and eventual purchase of scores and parts, although initially any scores would come from the MD's own collection.

Also seeking a double bassist and percussionist(s).
